AICPA Announces 2009 Top Technology Initiatives

Speaking at the 29th Annual Thomson Reuters Users’ Conference for Professional Tax Accounting Firms, Roman Kepczyk, CPA.CITP, announced the AICPA’s 2009 Top Technology Initiatives. The conference was held November 4-7 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Kepczyk is a member of the AICPA’s Special Committee on Enhanced Business Reporting and a prior chairman of the AICPA’s Information Technology Executive Committee. The list is the result of the organization’s annual Top Technology Initiatives survey, which helps identify significant issues likely to pose challenges or that deserve special focus by practitioners.

The AICPA’s 2009 Top Technology Initiatives are:

1. Information Security Management
2. Privacy Management
3. Secure data file storage, transmission and exchange
4. Business process improvement/Exception alerts
5. Mobile and remote computing
6. Training and competency
7. Identity and access management
8. Improved application and data integration
9. Document forms content and knowledge management
10. Electronic data retention strategy
